Low-carb diet cuts risk of colon cancer, study finds

TORONTO, ON — Researchers at the University of Toronto have found that gut bacteria drives a common form of colon cancer and that a low-carbohydrate diet can prevent the disease. Researchers found that microbes in the intestine convert carbohydrates into metabolites that spur cancer growth. Gender quotas work in “tight” cultures, says new paper from the University of Toronto

TORONTO, ON – Quotas probably won't get more women into the boardroom in places like the U.S. and Canada. They have a better chance however in countries such as China or Germany where people place a higher value on obeying authority and conforming to cultural norms, say a pair of researchers at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management. University of Toronto to host Techno Pitches 2014

Rotman PhDs and faculty members honoured for their research

TORONTO, ON – Five past and current PhD students in the areas of finance, accounting, and operations management from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management along with a new faculty member in strategic management have been awarded honours and scholarships for their research papers and proposals. Since 16 June 2014, Alexander Sodiqov, a doctoral student in Political Science at the University of Toronto, has been held in detention by security forces in Tajikistan. One third of adults with dyslexia report they were physically abused during their childhood

TORONTO, ON - Adults who have dyslexia are much more likely to report they were physically abused before they turned 18 than their peers without dyslexia, according to a new study from researchers at the University of Toronto and the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill. New dean starts term at University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management

TORONTO, ON – Tiff Macklem has begun his five-year term as Dean of the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.
