U of T community build giant human ribbon

TORONTO, ON – In recog­ni­tion of Nation­al Men­tal Ill­ness Week, U of T stu­dents, staff and fac­ul­ty are tak­ing part in cre­at­ing a human green rib­bon to raise aware­ness of men­tal ill­ness. The event, UniTe Against Stig­ma: help build the human rib­bon, will take place on Tues­day, Octo­ber 4, 2011 at 12p.m. at King’s Col­lege Cir­cle (St. George Cam­pus).

By join­ing forces to build the rib­bon, mem­bers of the U of T com­mu­ni­ty are demon­strat­ing sup­port for elim­i­nat­ing the stig­ma asso­ci­at­ed with men­tal ill­ness, and for build­ing men­tal­ly healthy com­mu­ni­ties. The event coin­cides with Nation­al Men­tal Ill­ness Aware­ness Week (Octo­ber 2 to 8), a nation­al ini­tia­tive that places the spot­light on men­tal ill­ness, men­tal health and the impact of stig­ma.
