8th Annual Global Health Conference planned for UofT

TORONTO, ON – On Tues­day May 4, 2010, the Uni­ver­si­ty of Toron­to will host the 8th annu­al Glob­al Health Con­fer­ence. This year’s theme of the con­fer­ence is “Social Respon­si­bil­i­ty: Glob­al Health Per­spec­tives.”

Lead­ers in the glob­al health field will meet to share their exper­tise and com­mit­ment as glob­al cit­i­zens deter­mined to improve the world for cur­rent and future glob­al gen­er­a­tions. Some of the top­ics that will be dis­cussed at the con­fer­ence include: Canada’s role in glob­al health; “incor­po­rat­ing” social respon­si­bil­i­ty; and, advo­ca­cy in med­i­cine.

Speak­ers include:

  • Ross Upshur, Direc­tor, Joint Cen­tre for Bioethics; Pro­fes­sor, Dal­la Lana School of Pub­lic Health and Depart­ment of Fam­i­ly and Com­mu­ni­ty Med­i­cine
  • Peter Singer, Senior Sci­en­tist and Direc­tor, McLaugh­lin-Rot­man Cen­tre for Glob­al Health
  • Philip Berg­er, Chief, Asso­ciate Pro­fes­sor, Depart­ment of Fam­i­ly and Com­mu­ni­ty Med­i­cine, Temer­ty Temer­ty Fac­ul­ty of Med­i­cine
