Brain-computer interface, mapping robot and more big inventions unveiled by U of T students
TORONTO, ON — Inventions we may soon use daily will be revealed Friday by undergraduate engineering students studying electrical and computer engineering at University of Toronto. Expert report reveals Internet providers should be more transparent about how they handle our private information
TORONTO, ON – A new report by leading privacy experts has revealed that Canadian Internet providers need to be much more transparent about how they protect their customers’ private information. The report found that while all providers had room for improvement, smaller independent providers tend to be more transparent overall than their larger counterparts. Parental addictions associated with adult children’s arthritis
TORONTO, ON – The adult offspring of parents who were addicted to drugs or alcohol are more likely to have arthritis, according to a new study by University of Toronto researchers. Investigators examined a group of 13,036 adults and found that 20.4 per cent of respondents had been diagnosed with arthritis by a medical professional. Kids’ books featuring animals with human traits lead to less learning of the natural world
TORONTO, ON – A new study by University of Toronto researchers has found that kids’ books featuring animals with human characteristics not only lead to less factual learning but also influence children’s reasoning about animals. Researchers also found that young readers are more likely to attribute human behaviors and emotions to animals when exposed to books with anthropomorphized animals than books depicting animals realistically. “Books that portray animals realistically lead to more learning and more accurate biological understanding,” says lead…
