Eleven new ventures graduate from University of Toronto’s Creative Destruction Lab

TORONTO, ON - Eleven ventures have successfully graduated from the Creative Destruction Lab, a business incubator at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. Combined with the ventures who graduated in the Lab’s first cohort last June, these ventures have collectively generated approximately $130 million in equity value. Fast, portable device for ‘on-the-go,’ laboratory-quality cocaine testing

TORONTO, ON - Testing for cocaine and other drugs usually involves two steps: a quick on-site prescreen and then a more accurate confirmatory test at a laboratory. This process can often take days or weeks — far too long in many cases where public safety can be at risk. Statement about the detention of Alexander Sodiqov

Since 16 June 2014, Alexander Sodiqov, a doctoral student in Political Science at the University of Toronto, has been held in detention by security forces in Tajikistan.  The University of Toronto remains deeply concerned about the health and safety of Alexander. TORONTO, ON - University of Toronto PhD student Stephen McCarthy, along with Canadian Blood Services, is hosting an Ally Blood Donor clinic during World Pride activities in Toronto.  These clinics invite people who are ineligible to donate to bring an ally to donate blood on their behalf. U of T to launch new institute to focus on indigenous health

TORONTO, ON – The University of Toronto announced today that Michael and Amira Dan have donated $10 million to support the creation of an institute dedicated to improving the health of Indigenous peoples. The donation is being announced today in recognition and celebration of National Aboriginal Day on June 21. Toronto, ON - Alexander Sodiqov, a PhD student at the University of Toronto, was reportedly detained by security officials on the 16th of June 2014 in Khorog, Tajikistan. Sodiqov was in Tajikistan under a research contract with the University of Exeter (UK). Sodiqov is married with a young child.  The University of Toronto is deeply concerned about the safety of Mr. Sodiqov and his family. University of Toronto students awarded largest ever Canadian scholarship to study Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics

Toronto, ON -- Quinton Lowe and Lukas Weese have been named University of Toronto’s recipients of Schulich Leader Scholarships for students entering undergraduate studies in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM). March of Dimes Canada Invests $1.5 million to Advance Research in Acquired Brain Injury at the University of Toronto

TORONTO, ON – Today, March of Dimes Canada and the University of Toronto  (U of T) signed a $1.5 million agreement to advance research in recovery from brain injuries and stroke, making the donation to the University the largest made by the national charitable organization in its over 60 year history.
