Stem cell therapy reverses age-related osteoporosis in mice

Toronto, ON - Imagine telling a patient suffering from age-related (type-II) osteoporosis that a single injection of stem cells could restore their normal bone structure. Childhood pre-migration health and circumstances shed light on the “healthy migrant effect”

Toronto, ON -- Studies have shown that immigrants to the U.S., Canada, and Australia tend to be healthier and live longer than non-immigrants in their host countries, once adjustments have been made for income and education. Toronto, ON – The Office of Continuous Professional Development at the University of Toronto’s Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, in collaboration with Cancer Care Ontario, is introducing the first comprehensive program in the province for pharmacists focused on caring for people living with cancer. New study reveals Ontario’s high-cost healthcare users

Toronto, ON – A new study examining high-cost healthcare users in Ontario released by researchers at the University of Toronto has identified the types of patients who are high-cost users, the continuums of care that propel these high costs, and what the costs of this care were. “Who are the high-cost users? New study finds elders living alone with abuser more likely to endure severe mistreatment

Toronto, ON – A new study examining elder abuse--released today by researchers at the University of Toronto, Cornell University, and Weill-Cornell Medical College--has found that older adult victims living alone with their abuser were up to four times more likely to endure more severe levels of mistreatment. The study suggests that the addition of non-perpetrators also living in the home played a protective function to buffer severity. “Older adults are particularly vulnerable to severe mistreatment when the abuser has unrestricted and uninhibited access to the victim”, said co-author Dr. Karl Pillemer,…

U of T opens one of first mental health and physical activity research centres
