Rotman Professor Receives Lifetime Achievement Award from Risk magazine

TORONTO, ON – A professor at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management has received a lifetime achievement award from Risk, one of the world’s leading financial risk management magazines. Speedy generic approval may not benefit consumers as much as expected, Rotman model shows

TORONTO, ON – Faster approval times for generic drugs will get them into consumers’ hands quicker, but may not make the price any better, a pricing and marketing researcher has found. A mathematical model created by Andrew Ching shows that fewer firms enter the marketplace because the chances of getting there first and commanding the best profits are dramatically smaller when drug approval times are shorter. Philanthropist donates $12 million to Mississauga Health Sciences Complex

Toronto, ON - Philanthropist Terrence Donnelly has donated $12 million to the University of Toronto to support students and help construct a new Health Sciences Complex at U of T Mississauga. The gift is the largest donation ever made to the Mississauga campus. Donnelly’s gift will support the construction of the building that will house the Mississauga Academy of Medicine and support medical students through bursaries and scholarships. University of Toronto anthropologists discover earliest cemetery in Middle East

TORONTO, ON – Anthropologists at the University of Toronto and the University of Cambridge have discovered the oldest cemetery in the Middle East at a site in northern Jordan.  The cemetery includes graves containing human remains buried alongside those of a red fox, suggesting that the animal was possibly kept as a pet by humans long before dogs ever were. Brain can learn to overcome sleep apnea: U of T scientist

TORONTO, ON – New research from the University of Toronto could provide some restful nights for the 18 million North Americans who suffer from obstructive sleep apnea. In a recent study that appeared in the Journal of Neuroscience, scientists from the University demonstrated that repeated obstruction of the airways requires release of the brain chemical noradrenaline.
