Other Information:

Mr. Dickey, the 2012 Cy Young winner in the National League, is a master of the art of throwing the knuckleball. His best-selling autobiography is called Wherever I Wind Up. Recently, a climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, and a visit to Mumbai have focused public attention on the cause of opposing human trafficking. “R.A. Dickey has combined personal courage, Christian faith, a global heart for the most vulnerable, and a writer’s gift. We are proud he will be our honourary alumnus.” said the Rev. Canon Dr. George Sumner, Principal of Wycliffe College.

Along with Mr. Dickey, Wycliffe College will confer honourary degrees to: Ms. Jennifer Harold, of World Vision International (Doctor of Sacred Letters), and the Right Reverend Doctor Grant

LeMarquand, Area Bishop of the Southern Horn of Africa (Doctor of Divinity), for their shared commitment to global peace, justice and community development. Wycliffe College is the largest theological College in North America in the Anglican tradition, which prepares men and women for ministries in the Church, in international development, and advanced theological scholarship.

“Receiving a Doctor of Sacred Letters from an institution such as Wycliffe College is an honour and a blessing. I am truly appreciative as it is important to me that the life I live is not limited to the baseball field, but extends to putting a name, a face, and a voice to so many of those in our community and across the world who otherwise are unable to do so themselves.” R.A. Dickey, Pitcher, Toronto Blue Jays.
