May 1, 2013

TORONTO, ON – What do picking up a cup of coffee, executing a perfect somersault, playing video games and conducting laparoscopic surgery have in common?  Simply put, each task requires synergy between the brain and the body.

Professors Luc Tremblay, Tim Welsh and Heather Carnahan – collaborators at U of T’s Centre for Motor Control – who will discuss:

  • How the brain and body communicate during complex and simple movements
  • How real-world movement principles apply to the virtual environment
  • How, where and when to apply these theories in the hospital setting
