University of Toronto honours filmmaker Deepa Mehta

TORONTO, ON – Approximately 4,400 students will graduate from the University of Toronto at convocation ceremonies taking place from Monday November 7 to Friday November 11 in Convocation Hall, 31 King’s College Circle.
The University will also confer an honorary degree on renowned director, producer and screenwriter Deepa Mehta at a ceremony Monday, November 7 at 6 pm.
Mehta, whose work includes Bolllywood/Hollywood, one of the top-grossing English language films in Canadian history as well as the trilogy of films Fire, Earth and the Oscar-nominated Water is currently completing work on a film adaptation of the Salman Rushdie novel, Midnight’s Children. She will receive an Honorary Doctor of Laws, honoris causa.
