March 24, 2011
TORONTO, ON — The University of Toronto Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Ontario Citizenship and Immigration Minister, Dr. Eric Hoskins, will be presenting certificates of completion to the law school’s first participants of its innovative Internationally Trained Lawyers Program (ITLP), March 25, 2011 in a recognition ceremony commencing at 10 AM at the Faculty Club, University of Toronto.
The ITLP launched in May 2010 in response to the many challenges faced by internationally trained lawyers seeking accreditation to practise law in Canada.
It’s a comprehensive 10-month program at the U of T Faculty of Law, which provides academic and career-related courses that address the unique needs of international lawyers, and includes a professional internship.
Forty-seven students have participated in the program. Some participants have landed articling positions already.
The ITLP is supported with generous funding by the Government of Ontario.
During the recognition ceremony, Dr. Hoskins will make an address at 11 AM, with certificate presentation commencing at 11:45 AM.
