Institutions out of sync: pressure points for change
March 14, 2011
TORONTO, ON – It is time to take a cold, hard look at our institutions of education. Our panelists will engage in a critical discussion exploring some of the pressure points currently facing educators in Toronto schools. Bringing socio-spatial and pedagogical research to the problems of discrimination widely experienced by many new immigrant groups in Toronto, our panelists will provide empirical illustrations of the current realities facing the Roma and Somali communities, two groups that bring with them histories and contemporary realities of war and persecution.
