Dealing with religious exemptions proves difficult for Toronto schools

The case of a Toron­to father who pulled his three young chil­dren out of music class because it was against his faith has sparked a pub­lic debate, and edu­ca­tion experts don’t agree on how school boards should deal with such cas­es. Lau­ren Bia­lystok, an assis­tant pro­fes­sor in ethics and edu­ca­tion at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Toron­to, believes the school board did the right thing by refus­ing to exempt the chil­dren from music class.
