University of Toronto President Meric Gertler to speak on relation between the university and the city

TORONTO, ON – In the knowledge-based economy, universities are regarded as prize competitive assets for cities and regions. Yet relations between the two are often characterized by tension. Drawing on Toronto as a case study, Dr. Meric Gertler, President of the University of Toronto will speak to the Toronto Region Board of Trade, discussing:
- The multi-dimensional relationship between universities and their host regions
- How the strategic cultivation of this relationship can be mutually enriching and drive regional competitiveness
