May 9, 2017

Toronto, ON – Two graduating MBA students from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of management have been named to the Poets&Quants “Best & Brightest MBAs” list which honours 100 of the world’s most accomplished full-time MBAs in the Class of 2017.

Alex Walker Turner, MBA’17, and David St Bernard, JD/MBA’17, were the only two students from a Canadian business school included on the list.

Turner and St Bernard were cited by Poets&Quants for their outstanding contributions as community builders.

Turner, along with four Rotman classmates, established a new initiative, Rotman LINKS, which connects Rotman MBA students as mentors to female undergraduates across the UofT campus who might have an interest in business as a career. She also launched the first Canadian Graduate Women in Management Conference.

“Ideas like this have been talked about in the past by others,” says Niki da Silva, managing director of the Rotman Full Time MBA program. “But she stepped up and made more happen in her two years at Rotman than most students ever do.”

St Bernard is a co-founder of Summit Leaders which mentors high-potential students from low-income backgrounds to prepare them to become Canada’s next great business leaders and entrepreneurs.

“This endeavour has been so successful that David is currently in the process of taking this organization national. He leads by example and has been a huge advocate for advancing the Rotman School’s diversity and inclusion mandate,” says Neel Joshi, Director, Student Life & International Experience at the Rotman School.

Profiles of Turner and St Bernard are online at Poets&Quants as well as the feature article for the entire list.
