Rotman MBAs Launch First Annual Canadian Graduate Women in Management Conference

Toron­to, ON – For the first time, grad­u­ate busi­ness stu­dents and mem­bers of the busi­ness com­mu­ni­ty from across Cana­da will gath­er on Feb­ru­ary 1 at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Toron­to for the annu­al Cana­di­an Grad­u­ate Women in Man­age­ment Con­fer­ence.

The con­fer­ence is orga­nized by the Rot­man Women in Man­age­ment Asso­ci­a­tion (WIMA), which cham­pi­ons the role of women in the Rot­man School com­mu­ni­ty and in the work­place. The theme for this inau­gur­al year is “Men as Allies and the Par­i­ty Propo­si­tion,’ high­light­ing the role of gen­der inclu­siv­i­ty in expand­ing the dis­course on gen­der equi­ty, as Rot­man WIMA cel­e­brates the launch of its male allies pro­gram, WiMen.

“There didn’t seem to be any con­sol­i­dat­ed plat­form where uni­ver­si­ty stu­dents at the grad­u­ate lev­el could inter­act with their col­leagues from across Cana­da, and with mem­bers of indus­try, on top­ics relat­ed to gen­der and work,” says Alex Walk­er Turn­er, MBA’18, a con­fer­ence orga­niz­er and vice pres­i­dent, com­mu­ni­ca­tions, Rot­man WIMA. “Rot­man WIMA and Rot­man stu­dents are excit­ed to host men and women from MBA pro­grams across the coun­try, as well as exec­u­tives from the Cana­di­an busi­ness com­mu­ni­ty, to bench­mark, cross-pol­li­nate, and share best prac­tices on pro­mot­ing and lever­ag­ing gen­der diver­si­ty with­in their orga­ni­za­tions.”
