NeXus consulting group celebrates 10 years of supporting non-profits & social enterprises

Toron­to, ON – Since 2005, non-prof­it orga­ni­za­tions and social enter­pris­es have reached out to a team of MBA stu­dents at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Toronto’s Rot­man School of Man­age­ment to help max­i­mize their social impact.

NeXus offers afford­able, fee-based con­sult­ing ser­vices to sup­port a broad range of busi­ness needs, includ­ing busi­ness plan­ning and start-up, mar­ket­ing, growth and expan­sion, devel­op­ment of long-term finan­cial sus­tain­abil­i­ty, iden­ti­fy­ing oper­a­tional effi­cien­cies and mea­sur­ing social impact.

The NeXus Part­ners have recent­ly com­plet­ed their first year of Rotman’s Full-Time MBA pro­gram. Their deep under­stand­ing of man­age­ment and busi­ness prac­tice is bol­stered by an eclec­tic set of domes­tic and inter­na­tion­al expe­ri­ence in both the pri­vate and pub­lic sec­tors.

Suni­ta Pil­lai has a pro­fes­sion­al back­ground in project man­age­ment, strat­e­gy and sales. She pre­vi­ous­ly worked for a micro­fi­nance orga­ni­za­tion in Viet­nam, facil­i­tat­ing micro-loans and imple­ment­ing sus­tain­able devel­op­ment projects in rur­al com­mu­ni­ties. Suni­ta holds a Bach­e­lor of Envi­ron­men­tal Stud­ies in Inter­na­tion­al Devel­op­ment from the Uni­ver­si­ty of Water­loo.

Matthew Tansey is expe­ri­enced in strate­gic plan­ning, busi­ness devel­op­ment and project man­age­ment. Most recent­ly he spent three years with the Unit­ed States Peace Corps in Pana­ma in eco­nom­ic devel­op­ment for both gov­ern­ment and com­mu­ni­ty stake­hold­ers, inte­grat­ing social­ly and envi­ron­men­tal­ly sus­tain­able prac­tices. Matthew start­ed his career in tra­di­tion­al man­age­ment con­sult­ing, work­ing for a bou­tique strate­gic ser­vices firm in Chica­go. He holds a B.A. in Psy­chol­o­gy from Mia­mi Uni­ver­si­ty.

Nicole Dong worked at a large adver­tis­ing agency work­ing on B2B and B2C cam­paigns for a mul­ti-nation­al finan­cial insti­tu­tion. She has expe­ri­ence in new busi­ness devel­op­ment and strat­e­gy, and has spent time work­ing in social enter­pris­es in Africa. She holds a B.A. in Inter­na­tion­al Devel­op­ment Stud­ies and His­to­ry from McGill Uni­ver­si­ty and a M.Sc. in Inter­na­tion­al Devel­op­ment & Glob­al Affairs from the Inter­na­tion­al Uni­ver­si­ty of Mona­co.

Con­nect­ed not only to the Rot­man School’s world-renowned fac­ul­ty, the con­sul­tants are also sup­port­ed by men­tors and a board of direc­tors com­prised of fac­ul­ty and indus­try pro­fes­sion­als who pro­vide the best insights from the non-prof­it, busi­ness and aca­d­e­m­ic worlds.  Research by Rot­man fac­ul­ty is ranked 4th in the world by the Finan­cial Times.
