New Appointments Strengthen Research and Teaching Activities at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management

Toronto, ON – An expert in global health and international development and a senior finance professional with over 25 years of experience in capital markets are among the new faculty members who are joining the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management at the start of the 2017/18 academic year. The appointments help to strength the school’s research activities as well its teaching capabilities across all of the School’s pre and post experience programs.
Ryann Manning joins the Rotman School as an assistant professor of organizational behaviour and human resource management. Manning is a recent PhD graduate from Harvard University and also holds a Master in Public Policy from Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. Her interests in h global health and international development led her to co-found an NGO in Sierra Leone, a context which continues to inform her research.
Nayana Reiter has been appointed as an assistant professor of accounting. She holds a PhD in accounting from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan and two degrees from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Her research interests include Investor communications, cross-listings, disclosure regulation and institutional holdings.
Zachary Zhong joins the Rotman School as an assistant professor of marketing. He holds a PhD in marketing from the Haas School of Business, University of California Berkeley and a Master in Finance from the University of Hong Kong. He also holds degrees from Peking University. His research interests include behaviourial economics and marketing.
There have been two appointments to the teaching stream faculty.
Dana Boyko has been appointed assistant professor, teaching stream, within the finance area. She has more than 25 years of experience working in capital markets and portfolio management in Toronto. She has been a sessional lecturer in the Rotman Commerce program and is currently pursuing a PhD in economics at a university in Germany.
Ralph Tassone has been appointed assistant professor, teaching stream, within the accounting area. He is a graduate of the Rotman Commerce program and holds a Master of Education from the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education from UofT. He has been a sessional lecturer in the Rotman Commerce program as well as in the Graduate Diploma in Professional Accounting program at the Rotman School.
Additionally, four faculty members appointed to the University of Toronto Scarborough and the University of Toronto Mississauga have received cross-appointments at the Rotman School.
Akash Chattopadhyay joins the University of Toronto Mississauga with a cross appointment to the Rotman School as an assistant professor of accounting. He recently completed a DBA from Harvard Business School and his research interests include financial reporting, corporate governance, accounting based valuation and management guidance.
Daniel Goetz joins the University of Toronto Mississauga with a cross appointment to the Rotman School as an assistant professor of marketing. He holds a PhD in economics from Princeton University and his research interests including industrial organization and applied microeconomics.
Laurent Cavenaile joins the University of Toronto Scarborough with a cross appointment to the Rotman School as an assistant professor of business economics. He holds a PhD in economics from New York University and his research interests include macroeconomics and growth theory.
Charles Martineau joins the University of Toronto Scarborough with a cross appointment to the Rotman School as an assistant professor of finance. He holds a PhD from the UBC Sauder School of Business and his research interests include empirical asset pricing and information economics.
