New Appointments Strengthen Research and Teaching Activities at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management

Toron­to, ON – An expert in glob­al health and inter­na­tion­al devel­op­ment and a senior finance pro­fes­sion­al with over 25 years of expe­ri­ence in cap­i­tal mar­kets are among the new fac­ul­ty mem­bers who are join­ing the Uni­ver­si­ty of Toronto’s Rot­man School of Man­age­ment at the start of the 2017/18 aca­d­e­m­ic year. The appoint­ments help to strength the school’s research activ­i­ties as well its teach­ing capa­bil­i­ties across all of the School’s pre and post expe­ri­ence pro­grams.

Ryann Man­ning joins the Rot­man School as an assis­tant pro­fes­sor of orga­ni­za­tion­al behav­iour and human resource man­age­ment. Man­ning is a recent PhD grad­u­ate from Har­vard Uni­ver­si­ty and also holds a Mas­ter in Pub­lic Pol­i­cy from Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Gov­ern­ment. Her inter­ests in h glob­al health and inter­na­tion­al devel­op­ment led her to co-found an NGO in Sier­ra Leone, a con­text which con­tin­ues to inform her research.

Nayana Reit­er has been appoint­ed as an assis­tant pro­fes­sor of account­ing. She holds a PhD in account­ing from the Ross School of Busi­ness at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Michi­gan and two degrees from the Fed­er­al Uni­ver­si­ty of Rio Grande do Sul in Por­to Ale­gre, Brazil. Her research inter­ests include Investor com­mu­ni­ca­tions, cross-list­ings, dis­clo­sure reg­u­la­tion and insti­tu­tion­al hold­ings.

Zachary Zhong joins the Rot­man School as an assis­tant pro­fes­sor of mar­ket­ing. He holds a PhD in mar­ket­ing from the Haas School of Busi­ness, Uni­ver­si­ty of Cal­i­for­nia Berke­ley and a Mas­ter in Finance from the Uni­ver­si­ty of Hong Kong. He also holds degrees from Peking Uni­ver­si­ty. His research inter­ests include behav­iour­ial eco­nom­ics and mar­ket­ing.

There have been two appoint­ments to the teach­ing stream fac­ul­ty.

Dana Boyko has been appoint­ed assis­tant pro­fes­sor, teach­ing stream, with­in the finance area. She has more than 25 years of expe­ri­ence work­ing in cap­i­tal mar­kets and port­fo­lio man­age­ment in Toron­to. She has been a ses­sion­al lec­tur­er in the Rot­man Com­merce pro­gram and is cur­rent­ly pur­su­ing a PhD in eco­nom­ics at a uni­ver­si­ty in Ger­many.

Ralph Tas­sone has been appoint­ed assis­tant pro­fes­sor, teach­ing stream, with­in the account­ing area. He is a grad­u­ate of the Rot­man Com­merce pro­gram and holds a Mas­ter of Edu­ca­tion from the Ontario Insti­tute of Stud­ies in Edu­ca­tion from UofT. He has been a ses­sion­al lec­tur­er in the Rot­man Com­merce pro­gram as well as in the Grad­u­ate Diplo­ma in Pro­fes­sion­al Account­ing pro­gram at the Rot­man School.

Addi­tion­al­ly, four fac­ul­ty mem­bers appoint­ed to the Uni­ver­si­ty of Toron­to Scar­bor­ough and the Uni­ver­si­ty of Toron­to Mis­sis­sauga have received cross-appoint­ments at the Rot­man School.

Akash Chat­topad­hyay joins the Uni­ver­si­ty of Toron­to Mis­sis­sauga with a cross appoint­ment to the Rot­man School as an assis­tant pro­fes­sor of account­ing. He recent­ly com­plet­ed a DBA from Har­vard Busi­ness School and his research inter­ests include finan­cial report­ing, cor­po­rate gov­er­nance, account­ing based val­u­a­tion and man­age­ment guid­ance.

Daniel Goetz joins the Uni­ver­si­ty of Toron­to Mis­sis­sauga with a cross appoint­ment to the Rot­man School as an assis­tant pro­fes­sor of mar­ket­ing. He holds a PhD in eco­nom­ics from Prince­ton Uni­ver­si­ty and his research inter­ests includ­ing indus­tri­al orga­ni­za­tion and applied micro­eco­nom­ics.

Lau­rent Cave­naile joins the Uni­ver­si­ty of Toron­to Scar­bor­ough with a cross appoint­ment to the Rot­man School as an assis­tant pro­fes­sor of busi­ness eco­nom­ics. He holds a PhD in eco­nom­ics from New York Uni­ver­si­ty and his research inter­ests include macro­eco­nom­ics and growth the­o­ry.

Charles Mar­tineau joins the Uni­ver­si­ty of Toron­to Scar­bor­ough with a cross appoint­ment to the Rot­man School as an assis­tant pro­fes­sor of finance. He holds a PhD from the UBC Saud­er School of Busi­ness and his research inter­ests include empir­i­cal asset pric­ing and infor­ma­tion eco­nom­ics.
