A special conversation with Nandan Nilekani, Infosys co-founder and chairman unique identification authority of India

TORONTO, ON – The Uni­ver­si­ty of Toron­to and MaRS is pleased to present a “Spe­cial Con­ver­sa­tion” with Nan­dan Nilekani co-founder of Infos­ys Tech­nolo­gies Ltd., and Chair­man of the Unique Iden­ti­fi­ca­tion Author­i­ty of India (UIDAI). UIDAI aims to pro­vide a unique iden­ti­fi­ca­tion num­ber for all res­i­dents of India.

The event, mod­er­at­ed by Roger Mar­tin, Dean of the Rot­man School of Man­age­ment, will take place Mon­day, May 30 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in the Audi­to­ri­um at MaRS.

Mr. Nilekani was list­ed as one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influ­en­tial peo­ple in the world in 2006 and 2009 and was named Busi­ness­man of the Year by Forbes Asia in 2006. He co-found­ed India’s Nation­al Asso­ci­a­tion of Soft­ware and Ser­vice Com­pa­nies, is a mem­ber of the board of gov­er­nors of the Indi­an Coun­cil for Research on Inter­na­tion­al Eco­nom­ic Rela­tions and is pres­i­dent of NCAER, an inde­pen­dent, applied eco­nom­ics research insti­tute in India.

On May 31, 2011, the Uni­ver­si­ty of Toron­to will con­fer the hon­orary degree of Doc­tor of Laws upon Mr. Nilekani.
